Joseph Indusi is a partner with Russo, Karl, Widmaier & Cordano, PLLC. Joseph Indusi is a lifelong resident of New York who graduated in the Top 10 of his law school class. As part of his legal studies, Mr. Indusi spent a summer studying International Human Rights and Civil Rights in Israel. Mr. Indusi graduated law school summa cum laude, was on the Dean’s list, was a Faculty Fellow, the Student Bar Association President and a staff member of the International Law Review.
Mr. Indusi has represented clients in various courtrooms throughout New York in administrative, civil and criminal proceedings. Mr. Indusi has conducted nearly a hundred pre-trial hearings in Criminal and Supreme Court resulting in the suppression of evidence and the dismissal of cases. He has also tried many misdemeanor and felony jury trials all ending in acquittals, with a specific focus on cases involving allegations of Driving while Intoxicated (DWI) or mistaken identification. Mr. Indusi has also made contributions to the Innocence Project Working ID group to help assist lawyers prevent convictions in cases involving mistaken identification. On July 29, 2012 Mr. Indusi completed the DWI Breath Test Operator course and Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) course. Mr. Indusi also completed a specialized training for members of the National College for DUI Defense, Inc. These invaluable certifications and courses help Mr. Indusi fight cases involving allegations of drunk and drugged driving. Prior to law school, Mr. Indusi worked as a licensed alcohol and substance abuse counselor trainee (CASAC-T) working under the supervision of a licensed clinical social worker and is trained to diagnose alcohol/substance abuse and dependency. As a result of this training and experience, Mr. Indusi is able to assess whether a client may benefit from the many treatment alternatives available to those accused of drug and alcohol offenses.
In addition to State and Federal criminal work, Mr. Indusi has handled numerous personal injury cases winning hundreds of thousands of dollars for his clients. He has also handled various contested estate litigations, accountings, and challenges to wills in the Surrogates Court.
Outside the courtroom, Mr. Indusi has handled various transactional work including business transactions, real estate closings, business formations, sales and dissolutions. Mr. Indusi is also a licensed Real Estate Broker in New York State.
